Voice to Parliament – Jesuit Social Services’ position statement
At Jesuit Social Services we support a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work, who have never ceded their sovereignty. We acknowledge and respect the long histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their connection to land and sea, and their stewardship of these precious gifts that we now share.

Deepening our conversation on The Voice to Parliament
Jesuit Social Services supports a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament and throughout 2023, we are advocating for a YES vote in the upcoming referendum. We were honoured to welcome Amanda Watkinson, who is an Aboriginal woman and former Jesuit Social Services staff member, to speak to staff at our recent All Staff Day in June about what a YES vote would mean for Indigenous peoples and for Australia as a whole.

Jesuit Social Services Annual Dinner
Please join us at our 2023 Annual Dinner to celebrate and support the work of Jesuit Social Services, and hear the Frank Costigan QC keynote address, which will be delivered by Senator Malarndirri McCarthy. Senator McCarthy is a Yanyuwa Garrawa woman, the Assistant Minister for Indigenous Australians and Indigenous Health, and a Labor senator for the Northern Territory.
