Federal Election 2022: Supporting men and boys to lead respectful, accountable and fulfilling lives
Jesuit Social Services’ recently released Federal Election platform, A blueprint for a just recovery, builds on 45 years of advocacy and action, to outline the organisation’s vision for a just society across a range of interconnected social policy areas, from climate change to Aboriginal self-determination, youth justice, mental health and affordable housing. In this fourth in a series of pre-Election blogs, we focus on gender justice: supporting men and boys to lead respectful, accountable and fulfilling lives, as we work towards a future free from gender-based violence.

Perry House is a residential-based living skills program for young people with intellectual disabilities who are involved with youth justice and correctional services. Perry House provides accommodation and hands-on support to four young people for 12 months, helping them build the essential living skills needed to live independently in the community.

StandBy is a national service that provides free and practical support to anyone who has been bereaved or impacted by suicide, at any stage in their life. Established in 2002 to meet the need for a coordinated community response to suicide, StandBy is Australia’s leading suicide postvention program. Jesuit Social Services delivers this service in Victoria in North Western, South Eastern, and Eastern Melbourne, and Gippsland.

Reconnect provides up to 12 months of transitional assistance to adults exiting prison in Victoria. The program acknowledges and addresses the challenges many people face in successfully returning to the community after their release from prison, and ensures a safer and stronger community by addressing the underlying factors that contribute to re-offending.
