Our advocacy, research and social policy work draws on our experience engaging with disadvantaged people, families and communities.We identify areas of unmet need, conduct and publish research and use our findings to advocate for change in keeping with our vision of ‘building a just society’.

Dropping off the Edge is Jesuit Social Services' landmark research into locational disadvantage, conducted over more than 20 years. Through major reports mapping disadvantage across every community in Australia, released in 2007, 2015 and 2021, Dropping off the Edge shows clearly that complex and entrenched disadvantage is experienced by a small but persistent number of locations in each state and territory across Australia.

Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum (CAPSA)
Jesuit Social Services and Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS Australia) co-convene the Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum (CAPSA) — a unified national network campaigning for the just and humane treatment of people seeking asylum in Australia, founded in 2013. CAPSA is supported by an advisory group of representatives from Australian Catholic organisations working to promote social justice.

Artful Dodgers Studios, a program of Jesuit Community College, is a flexible and welcoming studio space where young people aged 15-27 years old can create art and music with the support of experienced artists and musicians. Established in 1996, Artful Dodgers Studios is one of Victoria’s longest running community cultural development programs.
