Jesuit Social Services is committed to gender equality and closing the pay gap. We recruit on a merit basis and strive to have the best people in our organisation regardless of gender.

The 2022 – 2023 Jesuit Social Services’ gender pay gap was 4.4%. The organisation’s gender pay gap is significantly lower than that of the industry, which is 9.4%.

We have worked to close our pay gap based on previous results. This has been achieved in that the 2021 – 2022 gender pay gap was 5.8% (a reduction of 1.4%).

The organisation’s median base salary is -0.1%, a negative percentage indicates women are paid slightly more on average than men. The industry comparison is 8.2% indicating that men are paid more on average than women.

It is important to note that salaries are based upon award rates (where relevant) and benchmarking of equivalent roles, combined with position requirements including the level of skills and experience to deliver the role, regardless of gender. The pay gap arises predominantly due to a female workforce being dominant in staff roles, which reduces the overall average female salary.

The organisation will continue to review data on gender pay gaps and where possible work to close the gap.
