The Centre for Just Places was established by Jesuit Social Services, with significant seed funding from Gandel Philanthropy and the Victorian Government, to support and enable place-based approaches to social and ecological justice through research, collaboration, engagement and knowledge exchange.

The Ignatius Learning Centre is a Catholic Specialist Secondary School in Melbourne for boys aged 15-17 who are involved with the youth justice system. The school provides a safe, holistic and therapeutic learning environment, and promotes the development of the whole person – including intellectual, physical, social, emotional, cultural and spiritual elements of each young person.

Reflecting on the role of neighbourhood houses under a changing climate
Jesuit Social Services’ Centre for Just Places worked with a network of neighbourhood houses in Darebin to create a climate action and resilience plan in 2022. Inspired by this process, the Centre co-designed a framework with the Darebin network which can be used to guide strategic action planning and advocacy for networks of neighbourhood houses across the country. No similar framework currently exists for neighbourhood house networks. Below are some of our reflections from this work.
