What’s OK? Australia is an output of the Worried About Sex and Pornography Project (WASAPP). This initiative builds on findings from the WASAPP Scoping Study, which was launched at the Bright Futures National Symposium, hosted by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

The study provides a strong rationale for the development of a national online early intervention service. This proposed service is designed to support young people who are concerned about their own or someone else’s sexual thoughts or behaviours, as well as parents, carers, and professionals who are worried about a young person’s harmful sexual behaviour. The proposed service aims to make a significant contribution to the prevention of child sexual abuse.

Key features of the proposed program include an anonymous helpline and a dedicated website offering accessible resources and psychoeducation. These tools will promote healthy, consensual, and respectful sexual behaviours while addressing and preventing harmful sexual behaviours.

The report highlights several critical considerations for the development of this service, including its scope, governance, partnerships, staff capability, legal frameworks, and resource requirements. The service will be part of the broader service system response and developed and delivered in a way that promotes partnership with services working with young people who have caused harm, victim-survivor services, law enforcement, and technology companies.
