Jesuit Social Services congratulates staff member Aunty Pam Pedersen, alongside nine other Aboriginal leaders, on their recent induction into the Victorian Aboriginal Honour Roll.
The Honour Roll celebrates the wide ranging achievements of Aboriginal people, past and present. Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Natalie Hutchins said the recognition was made to those deserving of respect, gratitude and recognition who had “strived to make their community a stronger and fairer place”.
Jesuit Social Services knows first-hand the enormous contribution Aunty Pam has made to the community. In her current and previous roles at Jesuit Social Services, Aunty Pam has assisted young people and their families who have had contact with the criminal justice system. Aunty Pam has also worked with the Victorian Department of Education, the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, the Attorney-General’s Department and the Victorian Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Prevention Service, as well as law firm Maurice Blackburn.
Aunty Pam is a dedicated Elder sitting on the Children’s Koorie Court, County Koorie Court, Melbourne Magistrates Court, Heidelberg Children’s Court and the Adult Parole Board of Victoria.
The 2016 ceremony marked the sixth year of the Honour Roll, with a total of 89 Aboriginal Victorians now listed.
