Brunswick was alive with high fives as students of our Certificate II in Animal Studies course celebrated their graduation.
“We have had ten students who have been so enthusiastic and committed to completing the course. Now they have done it,” said teacher Rachael Hawkins.
“We have seen them grow in confidence and really enjoy the learning process. What an amazing achievement.”
Delivered by Jesuit Community College, the Certificate II in Animal Studies course offers an accredited, practical program for people looking to work or study in the animal industry.
The latest graduates gained skills in handling, feeding and watering animals, as well as animal husbandry, health and wellbeing.
“Students gain an insight into areas of the animal industry including animal behavior and handling skills, animal welfare, job opportunities and growth areas,” says Rachael.
“Our participants also gain job readiness skills applicable to any industry and develop their employability skills and goal setting.”
Jesuit Community College representatives Voula Zacharias and Romona Barraclough attended the graduation, and were impressed by the students’ commitment and enthusiasm.
“It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the celebration and see the great work these students have accomplished,” said Romona.
Jesuit Community College delivers accessible and supportive animal studies education programs, aimed at members of the community who are disengaged or have barriers to employment or mainstream education.
The courses equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to care for animals in a range of environments.
Graduates of the Certificate II in Animal Studies may choose to work as an animal care attendant in a kennel, cattery, animal rescue shelter or pet shop, or to pursue further education.
