Former refugees and child soldiers turned successful Artful Dodgers Studios participants The Flybz have been named national ambassadors of Refugee Week, which runs until Saturday.
Refugee Week is Australia’s peak annual activity to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.
Fablice, who forms The Flybz with his nephew G-Storm, says it is an honour to be named an ambassador.
“It is great to be involved as an Ambassador for Refugee Week because we know first hand the severe difficulties that many of these same people have faced before, during and after they have come to live in Australia. As young entertainers we get a voice to talk about refugees and issues that face refugees, and through our rap music we are proud to have now appeared at more than 70 schools around Australia.”
The hip-hop duo recently returned from a successful tour of Western Australia where they performed at a number of leading Catholic schools.
